Day in the Life: July 2016

Happy Monday, friends!

How many of y’all participated in the Day in the Life on Saturday? If you don’t know what DITL is, then you definitely need to check out Ali’s site HERE and see what it’s all about. This was my second time doing the Day in the Life – the first time I participated was back in March and I loved it. I did it an entirely different way this go-around and I have to say that it was SO easy to do and I loved it! What I did (and this is what Ali did as well) was set alarms on my phone for every hour on the hour. Then I would just take a picture of what was going on at that moment and there you have it. I took 14 photos and combined they really tell the story of the day, which is the whole reason for the documentation.

Today I’m sharing my photos with you and then in the next week or so I will be sharing the finished pages with you to show you how I’m incorporating them in my Project Life album.

1

8am: Snuggles with Luke. I’m so glad he’s in the snuggle stage still. He’s going to be three in just a bit over a week and well, I am savoring every snuggle and giggle that we share. 9am: Sitting in the Chick-Fil-A drive thru. We used to have a Saturday tradition of Chick-Fil-A breakfast, but since they are no longer serving cinnamon clusters (how dare they stop selling those!) then I made the kids some muffins and I went and got Michael and I a little something.

2

10am: Working at my desk designing away. I haven’t had a lot of time to do any freelance design work, but thankful for a little design work this weekend. Having fun and obsessed with my Wacom tablet! 11am: Jack was coloring pumpkins, ghosts, eyeballs, skeletons and mummies. I think he’s ready for Fall, his birthday and Halloween. I love seeing him be creative!

3

12pm: Sitting in the Culver’s drive-thru (it’s the weekend, friends – don’t judge! Ha!) I realized it was time to snap another photo and so I set the timer, put the phone in my cup holder and smiled! Ha! All in my hot mess glory! Folks, I was still in my PJs, hair had not been washed in 2 days and well – just keepin’ it real! ;) 1pm: Luke’s chocolate milkshake mustache.

7

2pm: Mailing out some happy oily mail. I’ve got some folks I’m sending the Happy Mama blend to a sample of Dream Catcher and some great information about essential oils. Holler at me if YOU want to know more! ;) I love sending happy mail! 3pm: Getting my Dirty 30 done.

5

4pm: Maggie might be an old lady now, but she still loves to look out the window just like when she was little. 5pm: Jack shouted, “Mama! That Target bag looks just like a cat!” Ha! It so DOES, doesn’t it?

6

6pm: Luke and I were doing a little dancing in the kitchen and then I thought to myself, “Self, why don’t you set the camera timer on your phone and capture this moment?” So you bet your bippy that’s exactly what I did! Ha! I just propped the phone on the leg of the table we eat at in our breakfast nook and we danced it out. The photo is blurry, but honestly, just this photo alone was worth doing DITL. It never fails – I always capture something that I cherish every time I do this documentation project and you know what – it’s all about being intentional and I love that about Day in the Life and Week in the Life. Makes me SO happy. 7pm: Did a bit of Project Lifeing. Trying to catch up a bit. Plugging away and loving it!

8

8pm: Every night the kids pile onto our bed and watch their favorite cartoons or a movie with Michael. Usually he’s ironing his clothes for work, but since last night was a weekend night, they decided to watch Kung Fu Panda. Not only is it super cute to see them all hang together, but that’s also the time that this Mama goes up to her office and enjoys some peace and quiet and gets some work done. Ahhhhh. Bless my husband’s heart. ;) 9pm: Another little thing that we’re doing nightly is playing with the Snapchat filters. My kids think they are hilarious so every night before I tuck them into bed we hop on Snapchat and laugh so much! Luke had already fallen asleep so it was just me and these two knuckleheads.

So there was my day and although it was a super ordinary day and I stayed in my PJs all day long (oh yes, I did!) it was full and fun and blessed in so many ways. Another Day in the Life in the books (well, it WILL be in the book) and I’m super happy that I played along again.

Here’s to documenting our lives no matter how we’re able to! Have a blessed day, friends!

XO!
