Week in the Life: May 2016

WITL2

Hi friends!

It’s getting close to Week in the Life week! Yay! If you haven’t heard of “Week in the Life” yet, then you seriously need to mosey on over to Ali Edwards’ blog HERE and get the details. I did it for the first time last year and I’m telling you, it was such a rewarding project. I love looking back on that week and seeing the bits and pieces of our every day life. When you’re being super intentional about documenting those moments, it’s really eye-opening and such a gift. I am getting ready for it a bit more this time around. I’m definitely going to not hold back and take MORE photos this time. Last time I found myself scrambling for photos to use and I had JUST enough, but would love more this go around, so there’s that. I’m also going to whip out my DSLR more. I’ll always have my phone near me, but want to take more pictures with my big camera so I’m going to have it more accessible this time, too!

I’ve also been thinking about things I really want to document in the coming week.

I love these blog posts that Ali references in her latest blog post about documenting the WITL:

Our Days are Built With Stories

What Stories Will You Tell?

I highly recommend that you read those! I’m super excited to be participating again and I’m not going to worry too much about being “prepared” for the week – I just want to be sure that I jotted down some ideas about what stories I’d like to tell about our every day life next week and what photos I’d like to take so that I can have a wide variety of life goodness to document.

Some things that I’m thinking I’d like to include in this WITL week are:

More snippets of what my kids are individually into currently. I love to see those types of posts throughout my Project Life and so I am thinking about doing a photo of each of them, maybe even a handprint and then a currently card with journaling. As a Mama, I can’t get enough of that. Ha!

A group family photo. We seriously don’t do these enough and so I might be whipping out the selfie stick for this one! No shame in my game and I think it will capture our craziness, which is good, too. ;)

The same photo every day, but different perspectives. I love how Ali would take a photo of the same spot just at different times during the day/week. Such a cool and simple idea. Not sure what location I’m doing, but I’m going to do it.

ME. I totally need to get in the photo more. Us Mamas need to work on that (I’m SO guilty of not being in my photos more) and so I’m going to be sure to get on in the photo more next week. Not sure if my hair and makeup will be done, but I’ll be in there. Ha!

More routines. I want to capture our every day routines more. Super simple, but not captured enough.

My desk. I think I’d love to capture my work space more and just what is on it during the week. I think that tells a lot of stories and that might be the place I capture every day. Still deciding, but wanted to snap a bit more of it at least.

Laughter. I want to capture more laughing smiles. Those are the best and so it’s time to make my kids laugh, snap a shot and then talk about the things that make them laugh the most.

My dog, Maggie. My sweet dog is getting old (she’s 13) and so I’m honestly not sure how much longer she’ll be with us, but it’s time to make it a point to really get back to taking more pictures of her and talking about her a bit. She’s a part of the family and deserves more space in my albums.

Our home. More snapshots of bits and pieces of her own. Favorite pieces, the mess, the outside. Just more of our home.

More memorabilia. I want to be sure I keep more during the week  to include like receipts from places we shop, snippets from what the weather is like or what’s going on in the news. Things like that.

More photos with white space. I’m all about white space. LOVE it, but don’t shoot photos with white space enough. I love adding embellishments and journaling to photos and so this time around I want to be sure that I am thinking more about the white space in my photos.

So that’s what I’m thinking right now leading up to WITL next week. Are you going to participate, too? I hope so! Be sure to go and check out Ali’s blog and read more about Week in the Life HERE.

I’ll be sharing my photos and journaling here on the blog every day and then once I complete my album, I’ll be sure to share that, too!

SUPER excited, friends! Can’t wait to have another week in our lives documented this way!

I hope you’ll join me!
