A simple way to document kid artwork and notes

A question I get asked a lot is how I get my kids art work and sweet notes into my Project Life album, so I thought today I’d show you a sweet, simple example of one of the ways that I do just that.

Luke actually drew that sweet person on a really large piece of paper, so what I did is I scanned the drawing and then printed it out as a 6×8 photo (you could totally print it out bigger or even smaller – like to fit in a 3×4 slot if you’d like). I knew I was creating a simple 6×8 page spread and so that size was perfect. I simply embellished it and then on the opposite side, I took a cardstock sheet that he wrote “I love you” on, cut it down to 4×6, slipped that in and embellished it with some Elle’s Studio goodies. The heart paper is a piece of 6×6 patterned paper from the All My Heart 6×6 paper pad that I just cut down to 3×4 and slipped into the pocket. The “heart you” sticker, “heart this” banner sticker and the “too cute” sticker are all from the Sweetheart Puffy Stickers

The journaling card (which I STILL need to write a little something on) is from the On This Day in February journaling tags, the sweet “XO” is the XO Wood Confetti. The “Love this with all my heart” is from the January Labels and the date stamp (which is one of my favorites!!) is the Dated Stamp Set. It’s SO good. There’s a mini version HERE, too.

So all you really need to do when it comes to your kids’ sweet notes and artwork is keep SOME things (don’t feel guilty if you don’t keep it all), simplify it by either snapping a photo of it or scanning it, and just slip it in your album from time to time. You can also buy the envelope pockets in various sizes and slip the actual notes and artwork in your albums as well if you’d like. These types of things are some of my most favorite things to come across in my album. I mean, how can you NOT smile when you see this?

Our kids grow up WAY too fast and so it’s important that we hang onto those snippets of their sweet childhood as long as we can, friends.

Oh, and be sure to make sure you know WHOSE artwork it is and having the date on it is a good idea, too. I’m going to be sure that I put Luke’s name on this little spread before it’s all said and done and slipped into my album.

If you have a great, simple way that you incorporate your kids’ artwork and sweet notes into your scrapbooks – I’d love to hear!
