In Giving Back

Good stuff

I’ve got a coupe of really good things to share with you all today. The first is:

Project TeamEwan is something I’m so blessed to be a part of, if even in a small way. I have donated a Blog Design Basics for Blogger class as a prize donation to help benefit this wonderful cause. Starting on November 5th, you can go to sweet Melissa’s blog HERE and find out more details and how you can order this wonderful class package with lots of awesome classes taught by wonderful scrapbookers. You can also go HERE to the Facebook page set up for this wonderful cause and find out more, too. You can also read about sweet Ewan, HERE. Trust me though – grab some tissue. Please pray for his family.

The second good thing I want to tell you all about is:

Scrappers Give Thanks is a charitable project of the scrapbooking community taking place annually in the month prior to Thanksgiving. Participants complete an action-oriented challenge in service to each year’s cause and are eligible to win prizes in a Thanksgiving Day giveaway. In 2010, the Scrappers Give Thanks project will deliver messages of hope and laughter to children in hospitals.

As they say, laughter is the best medicine. To participate in Scrappers Give Thanks 2010, create a 4×6 scrapbook-style mini artwork containing a message of hope, joy or laughter for a school-age child and submit it by November 24, 2010. All formats – digital, paper and hybrid – are encouraged and accepted. Please see the 2010 project details for specific instructions.

The 2nd annual Scrappers Give Thanks project has a goal of assembling 2000 participant-created 4×6 pages into 100 ten page (double-sided) mini albums to be delivered to 10 children’s hospitals across the country. Submitted pages should be scrapbook-style mini artworks containing positive words, happy images, jokes etc. and may be in digital or tangible formats.

Specifications

The Scrappers Give Thanks mini albums will be assembled with 4×6 page protectors and o-rings. To ensure a consistent look and feel, participants must adhere to the following specifications:

  • Single-sided 4×6 pages
  • Vertical orientation only (4″ wide by 6″ tall)
  • Include age-appropriate positive messages and/or images
  • No glitter, embellishments greater than 1/4″ thick or copyrighted images

Examples

Visit the Scrappers Give Thanks Flickr group to view great examples from our creative team and fellow participants. The following digital submission is an excellent example of a fun page designed to bring cheer to kids:

Submission

Digital contributions should be submitted via this form, submitting one entry at a time, by Wednesday, November 24. All digital submissions will be printed by Scrappers Give Thanks through our printing partner, Persnickety Prints, and thus should be created at 300ppi and saved at high resolution.
Paper submissions should be mailed to the following address no later than November 20, 2010 and MUST include an email address. Entries must be received by Wednesday, November 24 to be eligible for the giveaway.

There are so many wonderful people out there doing wonderful things. Makes my heart happy for sure. I hope if you are able to, you’ll be a part of the two above wonderful causes. Giving back, even if it’s just in the smallest way, can make a big impact in the life of someone else.

Hugs! Thanks for stopping by! Off to snuggle with my little guy. ;)
