Vacation with Mo – Osmo Monster Summer Fun

This blog post is in collaboration with the great folks at Osmo. One Happy Mama is a Featured Influencer & honored to be a part of the Osmo Social Club. All opinions contained in this post are solely my own.

With Summer almost officially here and with our homeschooling wrapping up, I’ve already heard my kids whisper under their breaths those two dreaded words that no parent can stand once school is out  …  “I’m bored.” It’s probably more accurately, “I’m boooooorrrrreeeeed.” Sigh.

In this house, we definitely encourage our children to use their imagination, be creative and still want them to learn over the Summer. I think it’s important and trust me – my kids have a million things they could do, so there is absolutely no reason at all for them to be bored – yet I still cringe when I hear those words and my kids know it  – that’s probably why they say it under their breath most times! Ha!

This Summer, with our house on the market and lots of things up in the air, we aren’t taking a big family vacation. And with a house showing at any given moment, we definitely need to keep things as tidy as we can all the while still enjoying our home, Summertime and our days together. So, what’s a Mama to do?

This is where Osmo comes in friends. Yep, Osmo to the rescue … again!

Can I just say how thankful I am for fun things my kids can do on those days when the weather might not be cooperating and they can’t get outside to play or when there’s a lot going on I don’t want them turning to TV all of the time or playing mindless games like Minecraft for hours. I’d rather them have fun and secretly learn at the same time. Ok, maybe it’s not really a secret, but they have so much fun that honestly they’re still not sure HOW they could be learning, too. Score!

Osmo games have been the one of the things that I’ve pulled out and let my kids do with their iPads that I actually feel GOOD about. Not only are they learning, they are having fun and that is what makes Osmo the perfect solution to those Summer days at home when you find your kids about to utter those dreaded words that make all of us parents crazy.

The newest Osmo game we’ve added to our collection is the super fun Osmo Monster Game, part of the Creative Set. All of my kids love to draw and use their creativity, which this Mama loves because I also thrive on being creative, and so it has been the neatest thing to see my kids, especially my youngest, Luke, use their imagination and creativity while playing this game. Luke is just blown away by how cool it is to see his creations come to life in this game. I think it’s pretty cool, too!

The game comes with a Creative Board (specially designed for Osmo’s vision technology which is made with high-quality durable materials), dry-erase makers from Yoobi and a super fun fuzzy storage pouch that you can hold the markers in. You can even use the pouch to erase the drawings off of the creative board (although there is a little wipe off rag included, too). Osmo has thought of everything and has made it SO simple for us Mamas! You do need to already have the Osmo iPad base to play this game, but if you don’t already have it, you can purchase that as well and it can be used with all of the other games that Osmo offers.

The Creative Set also comes with the Osmo apps – Masterpiece and Newton – two other games that your kids will love.

The cool thing about Osmo’s Monster Game is how interactive it is. Mo is the super adorable monster character in the game that loves to dance – I’m with ya, Mo! I even caught Luke dancing silly to the music during the game, which was just the cutest. Mo and your child will go on adventures. He talks directly to your child and will ask your child to draw something on the creative board. After your child draws it, it’ll appear on the iPad screen and Mo will interact with it. Kids are SO amazed by it all! It’s such a delight to see Luke interact with this game. I think that’s my most favorite thing about it! Luke giggled constantly and was SO proud of himself when he drew a fork for the first time. He thought it was so cool that Mo took it and used it! I heard he repeatedly say, “I can do that, Mo” when Mo asked him to draw something.

Oh, and these aren’t required, but we feel like no Osmo game playing this Summer would be complete without the Osmo sunglasses, just sayin’. ;) Oh, and there’s even a cute Monster Summer Fun Journal that you can download HERE for your kids to fill out this Summer!

See the delight on sweet Luke’s face? I’m telling you, that’s how he looked most of the time while playing Osmo’s Monster Game and friends – you are going to be SO excited because starting TODAY through June 16th – you can get the Osmo Monster Game for 20% off! Yay!!!! Now THAT is a great way to kick off Summer!

So, no matter what you’re doing this Summer, you and I both know you’re going to have those days when your kids are going to say that they’re bored, ugh, but if you have this game in your house, I promise you, your kids won’t be saying they’re bored, they’ll be saying, “Can I play with Mo?” Now those words I can handle.

Have a great Summer & grab your family Osmo’s Monster Game Creative Set. You will be so glad you did, friends! Here’s to no boredom this Summer – only fun AND learning!
