Back to School + Elle’s Studio

It’s that time of the year again – back to school time! Have you documented your kids going back to school yet? I always love including a first day and last day of school photo in my Project Life album and this year for the first day of school, I did something a little different and I wanted to show ya.

I love adding small inserts into my Project Life album. Anyone else? I think they’re SO doable and the perfect size to add a special event or group of photos to. It allows them to stand out just a bit, all the while being super easy to create.

That’s exactly what I created using the super cute collection by Elle’s Studio called, School Days.

I had a few pictures of my kids’ first day of school that I love to include in my Project Life album every year, but wanted to spiffy that up a bit this year and so I decided to use the collection in a 6×8 page protector instead of the usual 12×12 DESIGN A page protector and here’s how it all turned out.

First of all, the School Days Collection is SO cute, y’all. I’m talking – MAJORLY CUTE. You need to get it!

1

I love how doable this little insert is. I simply printed out two 3×4 pictures of Caylin & Jack on their first day of school and slipped them into the top section of the page protector. Then I adhered the “back to school” acrylic directly onto the top of the page protector in the middle of the photos.

Then I used one of the 4×6 cards and stamped the date on it (using my Project Life date stamp) and some of the stamps from the super cute stamp set that coordinates with this kit and it added a bit of design to the top of the card. I love how the card was lined like notebook paper and was perfect for writing the journaling.

I added a little paperclip to the top of the photo, too. Super simple little embellishment that went perfectly with the back to school theme of this insert.

Here is the back of the insert.

I used one of the 3×4 journaling cards to document a little bit of what our homeschool room looks like this year. I thought it would be neat for my kids to see it years down the road and also neat to see how it evolves through the years. Then I added the “back to school” apple filler card to the other section.

On the bottom is the other side of the lined notebook card which is this SUPER CUTE school supply pattern. It’s seriously SO incredibly cute! My favorite! LOVE it!

9

The last thing I did with the kit is used two of the “all about me” 4×6 cards that are in the journaling card set for this collection, and added a picture of both Caylin & Jack and then filled it out to give a bit more insight into them this school year. I then adhered the cards together, punched a hole in it and am just sticking it directly in the album.

10

How simple is that? Told ya! I think that is what I love THE MOST about collections like this (and also their monthly kits) from Elle’s Studio. It just makes documenting life THAT much easier and when the products are so cute – well, that’s just a bonus for sure! Documenting special events does NOT need to be an overwhelming process or super complicated. Just keep it simple, grab a few photos that focus on the event or story that you want to tell and get it documented. Look into adding great mini collections, like this one, to your supplies so that you can get it done even quicker and have lots of fun doing it!

I hope you have a great Monday, friends! I’ll be back with more to share tomorrow! I actually have MORE Project Life pages to share with y’all! Yay!

XO!
