Hey friends!

Our family got some happy mail the other day and Luke couldn’t wait to dig on in! BabyLit has some new books that are going to be released coming this September 6th and we’re so thrilled to get to check them out a little bit early!  I wanted to give all of you a peek at them and let you know just why BabyLit books are a favorite in our home!

The six new books coming out are, “The Odyssey” & “Little Women” and then BabyLit has also partnered with artist Merilee Liddiard on a new series of books (that are GORGEOUS, by the way) and these are Fairy Friends Colors, Opposites, Seasons and Counting.

Being an English major in college, I have a soft spot in my heart for classic literature and that is what caught my eye initially when I heard about BabyLit books. It wasn’t until I purchased some on my own and saw my children’s reactions to them that I realized just what an impact they were making on my children. I thought it was a genius idea to take a new spin on classic literature and create children’s books to introduce literature to kids in a way that they would enjoy and appreciate at such an early age. Um, hello AMAZING!

Let’s take “Little Women” for instance. Um, I had a “Little Women” book growing up that I read all of the time. It was never too far from my bed. I can still picture the cover of the book after all of these years, so I think it’s awesome that BabyLit is releasing their own “Little Women” book soon! It’s just so cute, friends! Illustrator Alison Oliver does AMAZING work and Jennifer Adams does such a wonderful job of incorporating the heart of the classics into these children’s books. When they team up – you know it’s going to be a hit!

Here are a couple of peeks inside the book:

Look how darling it is?! SO sweet! The design is just beautiful in every book that I come across (these are no exception) and I am even seriously contemplating swiping these books from Luke’s room and adding them to the bookshelf in my office. Shhhhh. ;)

“Little Women” walks your child through various different playtime activities that they can do like sewing, gardening, dancing and more. The grouping of illustrations on each page makes me giddy. Adorable!

Now let’s move onto “The Odyssey.” I’m not gonna lie. “The Odyssey” was not a favorite of mine in high school. Nope, it just wasn’t, but this version is adorable and well – I much prefer this one over the classic – sorry Homer! Ha!

Luke gravitated toward this one because of the adorable monsters on the cover. He loves monsters and so I’d have to say that this was his favorite out of the bunch. The book is full of super cute monsters – from Lotus Eaters (seen below – adorable!) to cyclops and the Sirens (also seen below).

I just love it. Such fun, whimsical illustrations and the colors in this book just pop! So eye-catching and creative!

I’m so excited about the new partnership and books that BabyLit has created with artist Merilee Liddiard. I’ve been a follower of Merilee on Instagram for a bit now, so I was familiar with her beautiful work, but seeing it all across the pages of these beautiful books made me an even bigger fan! Can you say gorgeous?! The four new books in this collection go over counting, colors, seasons and opposites.

These books combine Merilee’s beautiful illustrations with photographs of other objects like florals, creatures and objects from nature. It’s a really neat combination that is so cheerful and a bit quirky, which I love. I’ve never seen any children’s book like it!

I made sure to peek on in to Luke checking out the books so you could see what he thought.

See, I told you this one was his favorite. ;)

The whole time Luke was reading the books he would point out his favorite parts, giggle, smile and pretend he was reading. It’s the cutest. I think that’s one of my most favorite things about these books. As a parent you want your children to fall in love with books and these books make it so easy for that to happen. Reading is SO important and I’ve noticed that these BabyLit board books stand out among the rest of the books in Luke’s library and trust me – he has A LOT. He’s always reaching for these first.

I can feel super confident that these books contain great content, wonderful illustrations and foster a love of reading and imagination in my children and that’s such a cool thing that this Mama is thankful for.

Come to find out that Luke thinks these books are good for something else, too …

Wait for it … babylit16

Luke thinks they make a perfect little seat to sit on once you’ve read through them all. :)

What a silly little guy (that crinkled nose)! Yep, I can’t praise these BabyLit books enough. What a great baby shower gift to give someone and they definitely are a must-have in every child’s reading library.

They’re durable, have the cutest illustrations, there’s such a great variety of them to choose from and so far – every kid I’ve given them to and seen with them – LOVES them.

They’re kid-approved and this Mama-approved, too.

Remember, these new books will be available for purchase on September 6th.

So, check out BabyLit’s website HERE and be sure to get some for your children.

Or … you could just order some for yourself, I totally don’t see anything wrong with that. I won’t tell anyone. ;)
