1 In Luke/ Mama Stuff

A long overdue thank you

I’m sure most of you Mamas out there can relate. You know that glorious day when you realize that your baby is finally big enough to sit in the exersaucer safely and play so that you can actually some things done around the house and – brace yourself – take a shower … FINALLY! Ah yes, that glorious day! So that is why today I decided to post a special, long-overdue thank you to the exersaucer because quite frankly, Luke is at the age now (18 months) where I am wishing I could stick him back in it. For real. Ha!

Luke gets into EVERYTHING. You name it and he’s looking through it, pulling at it, trying to eat it, standing up on it, lunging off of it, chewing on it, grabbing at it, breaking it, moving it, throwing it … I could go on and on. He’s actually pretty wild (good thing he’s cute and we love him). ;)

So I just wanted to take a moment to thank the exersaucer. It was long overdue. That lovely, wonderful, not-thanked-enough, come-in-handy, wish-my-baby-wasn’t-too-big-for-you-now exersaucer. Yes, it has been quite an adventure since my last baby outgrew you and I passed you down to my little sister.

Dare I say that I shed a tear when I handed you off to your new home? Yes, it was a sad, sad day. Don’t get me wrong – it’s so sweet and wonderful to see my baby grow, but man oh man – do I wish I had something to stick him in every now and then that he loved and that would occupy him for a split second, just like you did.

Sigh.

So thank you, exersaucer. Thank you for those times when you made my babies laugh, sing and smile with your jingly toys and bright colors and the alphabet song that I could never get out of my head (I’ll let you slide on that one since you were so helpful). ;) Because of you, I was able to finally fold the clothes that had been sitting in the dryer for three days. And thank you for being there to help me so that I could finally shower. Yep, that wasn’t pretty, I know.  And thank you for those moments of solitude and for the times that I didn’t have to make dinner with a baby on my hip. I sure should have thanked you more when you were here, but just know that I appreciated you and gosh darnit, I am missing you today,  buddy.

Sorry to cut this short, but Luke is trying to stuff a DVD case in his mouth all the while standing up on a chair with one leg in the air and the other leg perched upon a bookshelf.

See what I mean? Boy oh boy do I miss you. Sigh.
