Myabetic Review

     type1-tuesdaysCapture

I was so happy when the sweet folks at Myabetic sent me and Caylin a new Love Bug to review. You see, right after Caylin was diagnosed, I wanted to get her a super cute case to carry all of her diabetic supplies so I purchased a Love Bug. She used it and loved it SO much that it got so worn out and it was about time to get her another one. The folks at Myabetic were just in time and get this – this Love Bug was NEW and IMPROVED. Caylin squealed when I opened the box from them! She couldn’t wait to see a brand new Love Bug and see the improvements! I couldn’t wait, either!

Here are a few photos of the Love Bug:

Here’s a description of the Love Bug from the Myabetic website:

This heart-shaped case will make testing time a playful experience. Soft colors and friendly shapes promote healthy bodies and creative minds.

This versatile case has two separate compartments. One side includes two Velcro-removable pockets, two elastic loops, and two larger net pockets to hold a meter, insulin pens, syringes, pump infusion sets, and other testing items. The opposite compartment is free to hold additional care items – FRIO cooling case, emergency snacks, log books, a compact sharps container, or other testing items.  It also includes an optional detachable strap.

I love how the new Love Bug has the extra compartment to hold extra goodies! There is plenty of space for everything that I need! It’s a bit bulkier than the first one, so it’s not AS convenient to carry, but the extra space makes it worth it and it’s definitely perfect for taking on trips or places where we need to take a good amount of supplies and care items.

I think Caylin loves it. What do you think? ;)

Here’s a bit about the story behind how the company Myabetic was founded:

Myabetic was founded by Kyrra Richards, a professional dancer and teacher. In 2007, Kyrra traveled to Afghanistan and Qatar to perform at American military bases. While there, her diet was very restricted.

Kyrra returned to the United States with an insatiable thirst and a voracious appetite. Yet, inexplicably, she was losing weight. Her doctor ordered a blood test and discovered that Kyrra’s glucose level had reached 485 – a dangerously high reading (70 to 130 is typically considered healthy). The military’s high-carbohydrate meals (meant to nourish troops serving in the desert) had pushed her pancreas to its limit. She was rushed to the hospital where an endocrinologist diagnosed her with type 1 diabetes.

The procession from specialist to specialist began. Kyrra became depressed by the austere doctors’ offices and cold, clinical equipment. On a whim, in an effort to brighten her outlook and accept her condition, she sketched her vision of fun and appealing medical apparatus. Included among them were stylish testing cases where she could carry her insulin pen, glucometer, testing strips, and lancets.

After a thorough search, Kyrra found nothing on the market that came close to what she envisioned. Committed to her belief that diabetes would not keep her from living the life of her dreams, Myabetic was born to promote a positive attitude and healthy lifestyle.

Like I said before, I purchased the first Love Bug from Myabetic back in 2011 and the customer service and quality of the product was fantastic. I just love how this company made a super cute, super durable and super affordable carrying case for my daughter that she loves so much. It makes having to lug these supplies with her not AS bad. ;) She’s a big fan of the sweet butterfly in the middle of the case, as well. Such a cute touch oh and pink and purple are her favorite colors right now so it’s just perfect in every way!

Guess what? The sweet folks at Myabetic are giving all of my readers a discount! Just use the code FAMILY for a 15% discount!

Thanks again to Myabetic for sending Caylin this awesome new and improved Love Bug! More importantly, thank you for designing products that give my daughter (and lots of other people) a cute option for carrying her diabetic supplies!

Have a great day!

  • Disclosure: Myabetic sent me the Love Bug to review. I made a previous purchase with Myabetic and just love them and their products and so I was happy to review this new and improved Love Bug. All of the opinions expressed in this blog post are my own and my daughter totally agreed. She loves it, too. :)
