Oh My Crafts!

Happy Thursday everyone!

I was contacted about a month ago by the sweet folks at Oh My Crafts! Oh My Crafts! is a website that offers the latest products in scrapbooking and crafts. I had never shopped at Oh My Crafts! before, but they were so nice and generous to offer me a $25 credit to their shop to try it out AND a $25 gift certificate to one of my sweet blog readers so I thought that was super sweet!

I had NO idea what to purchase. Some of the items I thought about buying were sold out, which bummed me out and I knew the new goodies from CHA weren’t in the store yet, so I thought I’d challenge myself. I thought I’d just purchase a few random items and then let my creativity flow and see what I could come up with once the items arrived.

The goodies I got were:

This CLASSIC 4×8 JOURNAL WOODGRAIN by Studio Calico

Two Mister Huey’s Color Mists (Piglet and Classic Calico)

I also got an assortment of Doodlebug envelopes in multiple colors and a little Doodlebug file folder.

Now what I was going to do with the above, I had NO IDEA and honestly, that freaked me out a bit. I’m a planner. I’m an organizer. I’m not much of a “fly by the seat of your pants” kind of girl. LOL. Sure it’s just crafty/scrapbooking goodies, but still. It freaked me out a bit and to be honest with you – I sat with the above goodies in front of me for a bit and really had nothing creative come to mind. Ha! But then something neat happened. I felt inspired. It was actually refreshing. I guess being out of my comfort zone a bit was scary, but in the end – it was more like a “get creative” exercise.

Here’s what I ended up creating:

I just love creating mini albums so that’s what I set out to do with my goodies. I cut the chipboard album down to 4×4 and used the misting sprays to add color to it.

I used some items I had already as well – Martha Stewart labels, letter stickers, d-rings, white cardstock and a “good times” flair. The woodgrain on the chipboard made me think about the outdoors so this little mini I entitled, “outside” and I’m going to fill it with little photos of Caylin & Jack and their adventures together outside. :)

It’s just going to be a simple, sweet little mini that I’m going to add photos to throughout the year. :)

The other thing I made came about as I stared at the sweet colorful Doodlebug envelopes I purchased. I love envelopes. LOL. These envelopes were such pretty, happy colors and a couple had a scalloped back enclosure, too. Something I’ve been wanting to start doing is writing more handwritten letters to my children. So I thought that embellishing these sweet envelopes a bit, grouping them into a little bundle and sticking handwritten letters into them this year (and every year from now on) would be a neat thing to do.

I used the little happy blue file folder for the front, entitled it “Love, Mama,” dated it and then inside added a little note to them:

The little “shine on” card is a card that is a part of our new kit that you can find HERE.

“Take Note” is another card in the new kit. :)

Another card in the new kit. ;) See – lots of cute cards. Heehee!

This little challenge I gave myself was fun. I’m going to have to do more of them in the future. :)

Now how would YOU like to win a $25 gift certificate from Oh My Crafts!? Oh My Crafts! is sweetly allowing me to give away a $25 gift certificate to one of my sweet readers! Yay! LOVE that! Lots of new CHA goodies are rolling in their store so it’s a great time to win and do a little shopping! ;)

This is not an entry, but I had to write and say I love what you did the with envelopes! I was just at OhMyCrafts a couple of days ago and was totally bummed out that they are out of stock. Which should not be surprising since they were a steal, way cheaper than they are at my local Archiver’s. I’m expecting a package of OMC goodness in a few days for some projects I’m doing for them next month. I’ve loved all my OMC stuff, got some great vinyl from them.
