One Little Word: 2012

Photo from Ali’s blog HERE.

Have you been thinking about your One Little Word for 2012, yet?

This year my word was “goodness” and I have to say that I’ve thought about my word a lot this year and this year was full of goodness, despite some difficult times. All in all, I DID find goodness in everything. I really do think that is the way you have to look at life – as if EVERYTHING that happens has a bit of goodness in it. Sometimes it’s easy to see and other times, well other times it takes awhile to see it, but you eventually do.

While putting Caylin to bed a couple nights ago, I turned off the light and she said, “Mama, can we have a moment in the dark to talk?” I said of course and we sat there for a minute. She had a couple of glow sticks and was admiring those and then said, “Every morning when I wake up and I see you – you make my day shine.” She is just the sweetest and that made me smile SO big and later – I cried silently just because I love her so and feel SO blessed to be her Mom. I then realized that my OLW found its way to me through a very unexpected vessel – my sweet daughter. I was having a difficult time deciding on my one little word for 2012, but since it found me and it just feels right – I know it’s perfect. My one little word for 2012 is:

That’s how I want to live my life. I want to remember to shine daily and by shine I mean not only to be a bright spot in others’ lives, but also I want to shine more for God. I want to shine and be the best Mama, wife, sister, daughter and friend that I can be. Also, I want to remember to see the bright side of things, even during the dark, hard times. It’s a gentle reminder to allow myself to shine when it comes to chasing my dreams. It’s ok to go for it, despite a chance of failure or disappointment. And although I know this word is going to mean SO much more throughout the year – I’m just so thankful that my word found me through my daughter’s sweet words. Choosing to shine is what I am going to do. Choosing to shine in all aspects of my life and faith. Yep, shine. That’s what I’m going to do.So there you have it. The simple and sweet story about how my OLW found its way to me.

Have you chosen your word yet (or has it chosen you)? I’d love to hear about it!

Oh, and Ali has a OLW class she’s offering HERE, too. Looks cool! I hope you have a blessed day! :)

Aw, thank you, Kate. I appreciate that. :)
I’m so lucky to have them! They are a BIG light in MY life.
I think there’s always room for improvement to shine just a little bit more. ;) Sometimes my spark goes out a bit and I just want to remember how blessed I am and how much God loves me. It’s easy to get wrapped up in other things and remembering to “shine” in my life is going to do wonders, I think. Thanks for the sweet words! Love you back, girlie!! :)

I found my way from Ali’s blog comments and I wanted to tell you that I “pinned” your SHINE emblem onto my Shine 2012 Pinterest board found here: http://pinterest.com/andreareyes/shine-2012/.

Love this word. It also found me this year and I’m excited to see where it takes me!

    Cute story, and great word!
The word I picked is Reclaim. It came to me while contemplating different projects with reclaimed/scrap wood. I realized there are lots of things I’d like to reclaim–my mornings, parts of my house, relationships :)

I like the story, what a awesome way to find your word! I have a Kalen, he’s 19 now. He turns 20 in April, I love him so and miss the days when he asked me to read to him or sing to him after I tucked him in.
