33 In Happiness/ Type 1 Diabetes

Last week

Last week on Wednesday, March 2nd, my life changed in an instant.
You might be wondering where I have been lately since this blog has been pretty quiet.
Well, on that day last week, my sweet 5-year-old daughter, Caylin, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes.
It came on all of a sudden and devastated us as you can imagine.
I am heartbroken, overwhelmed, scared, upset and sad.
BUT I am also feeling blessed because I know it could be a lot worse.
So, I am going to try to get back to the swing of things soon and keep on posting like I do because all of this creative/crafty stuff is good for the soul and therapeutic to me. It always has been. So bear with me as I gradually get back to this sweet little spot on the web that I call home.
Despite the horrible week we’ve had – I’m still one happy mama for sure.
Happy Caylin is alive and here with us.
Happy there is medicine to help her.
Happy that God is in all of this and He is here with us.

P.S. If you could say a prayer for us, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

So sorry to hear this. I will keep your family in my prayers. Could you possible keep my family in your prayers? My mom just got told that her cancer has come back. she was in remission for over 5 years. Last week was just a bad week for you and I. Let's all keep in good spirits. God bless you and your family.

I'm so sorry to hear about this Kristina. Your baby girl is so incredibly beautiful and I know that you all will be strong and get through this hard time. I hate to hear that such a sweet family has to go through this. I am thankful that there are many helpful sources out there. Thinking of your and your family. Much love.

I have been thinking about you and praying for your family. I know how this can change ones life, but know that there is peace in it….and that there are wonderful doctors and dietician's that will help to make this more comfortable for all of you! Again….I live this disease first hand, and would be totally available to chat if you ever need it! :)

My little brother was diagnosed at about that age too. It is very scary and overwhelming. You are in my prayers for sure. One thing we learned was to educate those around you, especially her peers, because the more they know the easier it is to accept and keep her life normal.

Your stress and worry are important no matter what other events go on in this world!!! We ourselves had a VERY sad event in our lives recently, but it's nice to be able to support others during difficult times! :-)

Your darling daughter is so adorable! I wish you the best of luck as you learn about the disease as you help her through it! Hugs,

This was on my favorite Devotional website today. I read it and thought of you Kristina!
"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.” -m2 Corinthians 1:3-4

    Kristina,
Consider your prayer request granted. I am sorry to hear about your daughter's diagnosis. We have 3 lovely girls and I'd be stunned if it were one of them. I have Type II Diabetes myself. All of your feelings and fears are perfectly normal. Cherish the days ahead with Caylin because she too will need your love, support, prayers, smiles, meals, etc. God is a Healer and I pray that His promises of healing will over shadow any doubt that Caylin cannot live a happy and healthy life! She is adorable.
To God be all the glory!

    Sending love,
    Vanessa

awww, kristina, i am so sorry to hear what a rough road this week has been . . . alot to take in and deal with i am sure . . . i will definately say a prayer for your family and Caylin. I know God made her perfectly perfect in every way and He always has her best interest in mind, because He said so. Your faith will carry you through this, no doubt, just remember to take care of yourself too. Her picture is something out of a strikingly georgeous add or magazine . . . so beautiful! God Bless you guys!

you will be fine… and so will your daughter! Educate, educate, educate yourself and your daughter. as a nurse i have definitely seen the effects on a person if they do not take care of themselves with diabetes. Give Caylin the tools to be in charge of her disease instead of letting it control her. it is also a plus that she is young and she can grow up with good habits rather than being diagnosed when she is older and having to completely change a lot of habits. I will for sure keep your family in my prayers at this time of adjustment. hope you have some sunshine in your day today!
