Happy Board Update

Hi sweet blog readers!

Happy Wednesday to you! I just recently gave my happy board an update. If you’ve been reading my blog for a bit now, you probably remember THIS post about my happy board. My happy board is just basically a bulletin board that I hung all sorts of photos, etc. onto it that make me happy. I hung it up in my studio and seriously – every time I walk by it – it makes me happy. Hence the name, happy board. Now if you don’t have one in your house somewhere (you could easily put this in a play room, your bedroom, the laundry room – who doesn’t need some happiness in there? LOL – or even in each of your kids’ rooms so they can have their own happy boards) what are you waiting for? They are SUPER easy to put together and really you can just use what you have around your house to make one. I had this old bulletin board that had a bunch of dings in it, etc., and so I just covered it with inexpensive fabric and printed out some of my favorite photos and then went to town pinning them up on the board along with some cards I had received, some pins, American Crafts flair, etc.

Well, since we moved and I have a new studio now and I’m redesigning it and going for a more clean, simple, organized look – as opposed to the look my old studio had which I also love (bright, happy, colorful) – this is what my new happy board now looks like:
I wanted to update that old, worn out bulletin board I had so I painted the frame white and added some new, inexpensive muslin fabric to the middle of it. I simple just doubled up on the fabric, put it on top of the cork area of the bulletin board and then trimmed away a lot of the excess and then added some all-purpose, heavy duty glue to the perimeter and then tucked in the fabric behind the frame. Then when Snapfish was having a sale on photos (9 cent 4×6 prints) I uploaded some of my most favorite photos that I had cropped to 4×4 and when they came in I figured out the placement I wanted them to have, cut out some die cut letters using my Slice and then glued it all onto the fabric. Super simple. Sure it took me a bit of time to do because with an infant I’ve only been able to work on it here and there, but overall it’s a very easy, inexpensive thing to make and let me tell you – the amount of happiness you’ll get from your happy board is even MORE of a reason why you must make yourself one if you haven’t already. I’ll all about happiness. :) If you have a happy board or make yourself (or someone you love) one, leave me a comment! I’d love to see it!

I’ve hung mine directly above my desk here where I sit and type and I often just glance up at it and smile. Definitely evidence of a happy life. :)
