Cards for Kids

Hi there!
Hope you are having a great weekend! I’m popping in really quickly to remind you all of the other wonderful card drive that I’m helping with called Cards for Kids. Jennifer McGuire and Jana Millen are doing so much to help these sweet children who are facing and going through such difficult things. Right now we are needing cards for these children and we’re asking you to set aside a bit of time this weekend to make a few cards, even one card, to send to a child who could really use some smiles, laughter and uplifting. We’re really wanting cards that are funny, happy and silly. Maybe make a card with a cute joke in it or put a picture of your sweet dog in it? Just something to brighten the day of a child who is going through so much. You can check out all of the details HERE on Jennifer’s blog. We’re offering prizes every month as well. You can win some great things all while doing something great. How can you NOT be a part of that?

I also wanted to share with you an e-mail that Eric’s Mom (Eric is the sweet boy who we were sending cards to along with Kate in our last card drive.) sent to Jennifer. Eric unfortunately passed away in October, but read these words his sweet Mom Leslie wrote:

“Hi Jennifer. My name is Leslie Osman and I lost my 8-year-old son to adrenoleukodystrophy on October 25, 2009. Kathy Racoosin, who is a friend, submitted our information to you as part of your card drive and I just wanted to tell you just how much it meant to our entire family. Our other two kids had so much fun opening the cards. They each carry them around in a little shopping bag. We also spent a lot of time looking at all the different states and countries that sent cards. It was just amazing Kathy (Racoosin) came over last month and spent an evening with me and my daughter – showing us how to make cards. And now, we would like to pay it forward and participate in one of your other drives. So, that’s what we’re going to do. I really just wanted to take a moment to let you know just how wonderful this effort is. – Leslie Osman (Bob, Rachel, Jacob and our sweet angel Eric)”

How wonderful is that? See. Just a few minutes out of your day to make a card for a sweet child can not only help and impact the life of that child, but you can touch the whole family? What better reason to sit down and create could there be? I hope you will join us on this card making journey as well and do something to make a difference. It’ll make you feel good to be a part of it and more importantly, it’ll make those children’s lives a bit brighter.

Thanks, everyone.
