The real reason for the season

I love experiencing Christmas through my daughter’s eyes. It’s the most beautiful thing. I love her excitement for Santa, but more than that, I love it when I ask her whose birthday we celebrate on Christmas and she sweetly says, “Jesus’ birthday.” Or when I ask her what city Jesus was born in and she says, “Bethlehem.” Right now she is understanding a bit about the REAL meaning of Christmas along with the sweet ideas of Santa Claus. As she grows it will continue to be very important to me to teach her the real reason for the season.

My friend e-mailed this to me this morning and I had to post it here. It’s so true.

May you and yours have a wonderful Christmas and may you always remember the real reason for the season.

Santa comes down your chimney uninvited; Jesus stands at your door & knocks…then enters your heart.

You have to stand in line to see Santa; Jesus is as close as the mention of His name.

Santa lets you sit on his lap; Jesus lets you rest in His arms.

Santa doesn’t know your name, all he can say is “Hi little boy or girl, What’s your name?” Jesus knew our name before we did. Not only does He know our name, He knows our history & future & even knows how many hairs are on our heads.

Santa has a belly like a bowl full of jelly; Jesus has a heart full of love.

All Santa can offer is HO HO HO; Jesus offers health, help & hope.

Santa says “You better not cry”; Jesus says “Cast all your cares on me for I care for you.”

Santa lives at the North Pole; Jesus is everywhere.

Santa rides in a sleigh; Jesus rides on wind & walks on water.

Santa comes but once a year; Jesus is an ever present help.

Santa fills your stockings with goodies; Jesus supplies all your needs.

Santa’s little helpers make toys; Jesus makes new life, mends wounded hearts, & repairs broken homes.

Santa may make you chuckle but Jesus gives you joy that is your strength.

While Santa puts gifts under your tree; Jesus became our gift & died on the tree.

Thank you, Heavenly Father for the most precious gift … your son.
